A ride and run/walk

We had a very active weekend this weekend and it was great! Yesterday we saddled up our bikes and went on a 19 mile bike ride, again. We rode our bikes to Chuck's grandma and grandpa's and ate a nice lunch with them and the kids got to play in the great outdoors and it was awesome. The ride back was a little tough, the wind had picked up and was blowing against us, but we made it back and the kids passed out in the carrier on the way back home!

This morning we participated in our annual Race for the Cure. We have been doing this annually since 2000 and it is usually a whole family affar. My mom couldn't make it this year because she was out of town; but Andy, Denise and her Aunt Diane and cousin Kristen came along since they were visiting from California. It was a lot of fun, except for all of the people there! Man, you could barely walk because of the huge amount of people! Chuck ran (duh, what else would that guy do?) and the rest of us walked. He finished in 28 minutes and we finished in 1 hour and 22 minutes. Like I said, there were a lot of people there and it was hard to walk, especially with 2 strollers. Thanks everyone for helping to push a stroller!

Family Fun Night #2 Oktoberfest

We had an Oktoberfest for our second family fun night. We ate Würstel (sausages) along with Brezel (Pretzel)), and sauerkraut, and Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) . We all drank beer out of beer steins (really the kids had apple juice, but they thought it was special kids' beer) listened to Beethoven, and spoke the very few German words we know. It was a lot of fun! For more Family Fun Night ideas check this out.

We made a special trip to the zoo on Wednesday. It had been a long time and we had a blast. Here are a few pics, I love the ones of Lily looking in the mirror, I mean at the gorilla!

The New Pedestrian Bridge

On Monday we went to walk across the brand new pedestrian bridge that spans the Missouri River. We had a nice time, even though it was windy as all get out!

Free Day

Today was the first free and unplanned day that I have had in I can't even remember. The weeks are just running together. What did I do with my free day? Well, I let Lily watch a little Sesame Street, which she hasn't been able to watch in a long time. I made myself a nice little breakfast burrito breakfast with a nice cup of coffee and slowly ate it at the kitchen table. Then, I got to work. I did something that I hate more than anything, but had to be done because it was killing me to look at it. I deep cleaned my kitchen floor. Not just a quick mop, a thorough, down and dirty cleaning, and I love it! I also reorganize a couple of drawers and cleaned the kids' bathroom, did 2 loads of laundry, and 2 dishwasher loads of dishes and vacuumed. I also went on a quick shopping trip to Nobbies, Target and Bakers. When we came back we ate lunch and then went frog hunting. We saw 4 frogs today and 2 cardinals. I will upload pictures of some beautiful fall things soon. I can't wait until I have another free, unscheduled day, it recharges me!
