Another Week

Well, we have had another one of those weeks around here. Skyler started on his antibiotics for strep last Thursday, and by Saturday was feeling back to normal. We had two normal days and then, whamo! Chuck got hit again. It started Monday night with a severe ear ache. It has lasted until today. He went to work on Tuesday, but was in severe pain. He already had a doctor's appointment scheduled for that afternoon, so he was covered. While he was at work, his eardrum ruptured and has been spewing stink fluid ever since. He was diagnosed with a major nasty inner ear infection. He got his meds, came home and crashed. I had to find a babysitter for the kids and also try to find a replacement date for the Matchbox 20 concert. I found a babysitter, but no date. The concert was great. Wednesday, he was still in such severe pain, I called his doctor and they prescribed some pain meds. Even after the pain meds, he was in such severe pain, I almost took him to the hospital. Yesterday he finally started to feel like a human again. Today, he is at work. I now see that Lily is got nice green snot coming out of her nose, so I guess she's next. Please pray for us, that we can all be healthy again, and soon! Thanks!

Skylerisms

Skyler said this to me today:

"Underneath all this yucky dirty ugly mess, I think your car is sparkly!"

I said, that is true.

When Skyler is President

On Thursday at preschool it was George Washington Day. They had to pretend to be the president and say what they would do if they were. Skyler said when he becomes president he will tell people not to play with wild animals. He also had to draw a picture of himself as president, I think the media would truly pick on him if there was ever a president that looked like his drawing. I am proud of him though, for caring about those wild animals!

Cute!

What else can I say?

Mission Accomplished!

There is nothing quite as satisfying as setting a goal and attaining it. Last year, Chuck and I decided to participate in the Trek up the Tower, which is a 40 floor, 870 step vertical challenge in Omaha's tallest building, the First National Tower. I quit around the 20th floor. I was hurting and couldn't catch my breath. I took the elevator down and sat down, caught my breath and realized I had just made a huge mistake in quitting. I vowed to do it again this year and finish, no matter how long it took me. Yesterday we participated in the event again and I finished it! I was so excited that I walked right past the people giving out the medals and didn't get one. I went back later and got mine and was overhead by an Omaha World Herald reporter, who decided my story was interesting. I was in the paper today! This is what it said about me:

Stephanie Svajgl, 34, somehow slipped by. "I didn't get my medal," she said, returning to the corridor of greeters. "Thank you. I earned it."

Svajgl said she participated last year but quit on the 20th floor. "I just couldn't breathe and my legs were like 500 pounds," she said. "I took the elevator down. And regretted it ever since." The Bellevue woman redeemed herself Saturday.

Here is a link to the entire story:

Anyway, it was not easy at all. I stopped and rested at every chair they had. It took me about 23 minutes. Not bad, you say, well not good when the first place person finished in under 5 minutes. But I accomplished a goal and am proud of it. Next year, my goal is to finish it in less time, which will require me to actually prepare for it, which could benefit my weight loss program, which is not working right now. So for now, Yeah! for me.

Strep

Well as if three weeks of everyone being sick isn't fun enough; we've been hit with the strep bug. Skyler has been feeling lousy all week, but couldn't really pinpoint what was bothering him. Finally yesterday he said his throat hurt really bad. I took him to the peds clinic and presto, we have strep. Please pray that he is the only one who has it and that the rest of us stay clear of it. Thanks!

Winter

Someone very smart (Curious George) stated today that winter is a roller coaster of BLAH! Enough said.

Skyler Found His Snap

It is a very important time in the life of a 5 year old when he finds his snap. He has been working so hard on getting it, and now that he has it, he doesn't let anyone forget! Keep on snapping Skyler, keep on snapping!

Schram Park

On Friday we went to the Schram Park Aquarium with our good friends the Finans. We had a lot of fun, even when the geese were chasing us! Here are a few pictures from our outing.

Lily giving the deer some love!

The whole gang in front of a giant catfish, which
we decided are really the most disgusting creatures
on earth!

The boys feeding the geese, before the geese
got too excited!

Happy President's Day

In honor of President's Day, Skyler and I built a log cabin for Abraham Lincoln. I don't know which part was more fun, the building of the cabin, or eating the leftover parts.

We discovered that dipping pretzels in frosting is really yummy!

3 down, 1 to go?

Well, I should have known. Wednesday when I felt I was coming down with something, I told Chuck. He asked if I could please wait until the weekend to get sick. I complied. Saturday night around 7:45 my ear just started aching like I have never felt before. I was pushed out of the house and told to go to the Alegent Express Care. I got there at 7:59. They close at 8:00, or is it 7:59? I guess it is 7:59 because the doors were locked. I was just going to come home, but Chuck was very stern with me over the phone and specifically told me NOT to come home unless I see a doctor. I said FINE! Find me one to see! We worked through it and found a Midwest Minor Medical in Ralston. God Bless them! They were open until 9:00; I was in and out within a matter of minutes with my nicely diagnosed sinus and ear infections, with a life saving, pain ending prescription for meds that I was happy to go fill at the wonderful Walgreens up the street that is open 24 hours. I must say God Bless them too, because they were quick to fill my prescription and didn't laugh too hard when I tried to pay with my Baker's card. I hope I sleep tonight and I hope I feel better tomorrow. But most of all, I hope Lily stays a peach and remains unaffected by this.

My newest craft project

This is a paper cutting. I took an image and placed it on top of the pink paper and cut it out. It was tedious and monotonous and I loved it! I hope to do a lot more of these types of projects, I think they are so cool and haven't seen them anywhere else before.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and let you all know that we love you!

Breakfast with Lily

This is what a typical breakfast with Lily is like. Her animals have to eat with her and of course her meme, aka baby. They each have to have love from her and they each have to have their own bowl of food with real food in it. She is such a trip.

We've got a handle on it

Ok, I took Skyler to the doctor today and he has an ear infection. Easily fixed with some antibiotics and some love. Hopefully we will all be healthy and happy so that we can go to Mahoney tomorrow and run off some energy!

Or so I thought

Just when you think everyone is going to be okay--whamo! Skyler had a hard time sleeping the first part of the night. He was crying. I went in to check on him and he had already wet the bed; not even 2 hours in bed yet! He was saying his mouth hurt? His ear hurt. I gave him some teething tabs and motrin. Then he started his uncontrollable coughing fit. I gave him his special cough medicine. Then, two hours later, he threw up and did that most of the night. He is sleeping now and I hope he sleeps for a long time. He was supposed to go to Japan today, but his passport's been revoked!

On a positive note, Chuck went back to work today! And Lily is still a peach.

We are on the mend here

Well, Chuck's fever finally broke today and I think he's gonna live. Skyler slept through the night in his own bed. My headache is better, it is still there, but it is better. Lily is still a peach! We are looking forward to an exciting time at the Mahoney State Park activity center on Friday, so we still have a few days to get healthy.

New Blog

To take from Holly, I too have started a new blog, http://colorfulblobs.blogspot.com/, to showcase my crayon wreaths. It was also suggested to me that I should start a blog for recipes; let me know what you think about that. It sounds exciting to me!

What's up?

Well I was yelled at the other day for not having anything new out here. So here it is. Well Chuck started feeling sick last night. During the night, Skyler came in to sleep with us. I went and slept in his bed and felt a migraine coming on. Chuck got up and left for Bible study but still did not feel well. I went back to my bed and slept with Skyler. I ignored the alarm. Lily woke up so I snuck in a shower and took Skyler to his room to get ready for school. I got Lily and was taking her to the kitchen for breakfast when I checked on Skyler and found him in the same position on the floor from when I left him, passed out. I made an executive decision that he would stay home from school today. Put him in bed and tucked him in. He slept until 10:50, when I would normally leave to go pick him up! At the same time, Chuck came home from work. He has a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I am still fighting my headache and of course Lily is a peach!
