Summer School

Well, as weird as it may be, Skyler is in full day summer school for the next three weeks. The first day was on Tuesday and we were both fine. I walked him to his classroom and said goodbye and left and all was fine. He had a great day and when I picked him up, he told me all of the fun things that they did and that he needed a blanket for rest time. I packed his blanket up and we went back for day two. There he was in the line to go into school with his class and guess who was crying! Yeah, me! What a baby! I couldn't believe it. I pulled myself together and just could not believe it. It is still hard for me to believe he is so old. I remember bringing him home from the hospital like it was just yesterday. Here is a picture of it!

I know that I will always remember like it was yesterday, even when it was 20 years ago, and that scares me! After school I asked him how his day was. It was great mom! I asked him if he sat by his friends at lunch. He said no, I sat by a girl. What was her name, I ask. He replies in true Skyler fashion - I don't know mom, but she sure is real cute! Oh boy!

Our trip to Wichita

We took a nice trip down to visit my sister in Wichita over the weekend. We only had one full day to play, but we did a good job of it. We first went to a glass blowing studio and watched some cool artists make glass bowls and paperweights. The kids got to buy glass marbles and ladybugs, flowers and stars. It was really cool. Then we went to the Wichita Children's Museum. Here are a few pictures from there. My three adorable sunflowers!

They had the coolest castle there and here are the kids riding their horses and Skyler posing with a knight.
Aunt Rachel is cooking up some Lily stew!
Skyler is posing with a very scary old lady statue.
and then my camera died! We had fun, thanks guys!

New Papercuttings

These are two of the three papercuttings that I did for Erika. Two black on purple and one purple on black.

Here is one I did for Melissa.

Graduation and the zoo

Monday was a great day. Skyler graduated from The Little Big School and I didn't cry!! The main reason that I didn't cry was that I was so busy helping the teacher out getting the kids in and out of their different props for their songs, I didn't even have a chance to think about it! It was cute and I am glad that is over. Here are a few pictures.

Everyone getting ready to officially start.

Skyler and best buddy Jonathan after the whole ordeal. (notice them holding hands!)

After that, the WHOLE family went to the zoo. Chuck took Skyler and Lily into the dreaded Kingdom of the Night, the only place in the zoo that I won't go! I sat outside in the shade and did some people watching. After that we went to the nursery, the aquarium, ate some lunch and then went to the new butterfly garden. It was pretty cool.
Lily and Skyler watching the penguins.

A rare photo with mom in the insect cave.

Busy Busy Weekend!

We had a super duper busy weekend. Friday night we had Jonathan's birthday party at Mahoney. It was a blast! Not only did the kids get to play in the tunnels, ball pits and slides, some of the brave ones and a few brave parents got to climb the climbing wall!

Friends til the end!

Saturday we had a preschool graduation party at our house for Skyler and Jonathan. It was fun also. I made a Lightening McQueen cake and Chuck frosted it. He did a great job. We ate lots of yummy food, thanks Christie, and the kids had lots of fun playing!

Saturday night we went to an Omaha Beef indoor football game. I really only have one word to describe it ---- LOUD. I thought we could go and talk with our friends and have fun. NO, it was so loud you couldn't even hear yourself think! Lily kept putting her hands over her ears. The only thing that saved us was the kettle corn and cotton candy, thanks Aunt Denise!!!!
So anyway, tomorrow is Skyler's graduation. And I know that it is not sad but am afraid I will make a fool of myself crying because it is the thought of how quickly the time is passing and how soon enough I will be writing in here about his high school graduation and oh man, how sad and how hard that one will be. But for now, I will just enjoy my little kindergartner and cherish every minute of it before it is gone!

I just can't fool anyone!

Wow! I never thought people would react like this to the fact that I was pretending to have gotten a puppy. I can't believe people just can not envision me with a dog. Maybe I could change. Maybe if my kids wanted a dog really really badly, I would cave in? Apparently not, everyone just thinks I am crazy to even consider it. So for now, we are remaining dog free. The puppy in the pictures with Lily is Max, Chuck's mom's new puppy and even though he is a dog, he is pretty darn cute!

A visit by the police

We had a great time tonight! Chuck and I went to The Police concert tonight. It was a great time. I really needed a break from the kids, especially Lily who has been sick since Friday and does not seem to be getting better. Anyway, the concert was awesome. They sang all of their best songs and did it very energetically. We had the privilege of going to a Sting concert in 2000, and it was one of the best concerts that we have ever attended. The Sting concert was way better than the concert tonight, but it was still a lot of fun and we had a great time.

More on dogs

Well, we did it. We got a puppy. It's crazy how this all happened but the pictures tell it all.

The day went to the dog!

We were having a pretty normal day. Just minding our own business, when, some strange events took place. I was preparing dinner. We were having one of our pastors and his family over for dinner, so I was pretty busy getting everything ready for that. The kids were out in the backyard playing very well. I looked outside and saw a little black dog in our yard. I am definitely not a dog person AT ALL! Most everyone who knows me can tell. I just am not a fan of them. Well, if there ever was a cuter dog in the world, I just can't picture it. This little dog a just so cute and friendly. He was a stray, had no tags or collar and just looked like he needed some love. I asked my neighbor if I could borrow a leash and we put it on a leash and tied it to a chair. I called the humane society to have them come pick them up. I will be completely honest and say that for about 10 minutes, I really wanted to keep him, but then I came to my senses! He was pretty loudly barking while we ate dinner, I suppose it was because he hadn't eaten in a while. I gave him a hamburger bun and he ate half of it. Then they came to pick him up and he was really calm and happy with the nice guy who came and got him, so I know he will be fine. I spaced taking a picture of him, but he looked a lot like the one here. I hope he will find a family that can take good care of him!

We went to the farm!

Skyler's class took a field trip to the farm today. Luckily, Lily and I got to tag along! One of the first exciting things that they did was go down a huge slide in the barn and land in hay. Here is Lily doing it. She wasn't too happy to land in the hay, because it all fluffed up and got all over her! Then, Skyler got to have his turn, he liked it!
Then they got to ride on a horse!

Lily made a friend with one of the animals there!
We had a lot of fun, but I was glad to leave. The farm is kind of a dirty place!

Things we've been up to

Here is just a real cute picture of Lily!

My brother's inlaws came into town and we all had brunch on Sunday. It was a lot of fun and we ate a lot of good food and then went out and played. It was a nice time.

My mom, my brother, his wife, her mom, her dad, Chuck and Lily, and front and center, is
Skyler!

And finally, on Sunday, Chuck and I went to see Michael Buble in concert. The concert was great! I love his music and have been to one of his concerts already, but was a little worried that Chuck would enjoy himself. I know he thinks his music is okay, but he actually had a great time. The opening act was fantastic as well. Naturally 7 is their name and you just have to check them out here.
