Skyler's Quilt

Well, I am about 1/3 of the way done on this. I think the hard part is over. I just need to buy one more color for the edging and then the batting, sandwich it together, sew it and put the ties in. I think it is looking pretty nice!

I did it!

Tonight I went for a run. It's not the first time that I have gone on one; but it is the first time that it didn't hurt, that I was loving it and just kept running until I was done. It was the farthest I have ever run in my life and the longest I have ever run in my life and the fastest!!! I ran 12 minute miles and I am so proud of myself!!!!! My exercise boot camp has done such wonderful things for me! I am so grateful I was able to sign up for it and so excited at the way my body is improving physically.

Pumpkin Carving 2008

I think this is the first year that Lily got to carve pumpkins with us. She saw the inside of the pumpkin and said, ewwwh, what's that smell?! We had a lot of fun and everyone had a completely different looking jack o lantern. Skyler was a little disappointed that we didn't bake the pumpkin seeds so that we could eat them, but, I told him we could buy some ready to eat at the store if he really wanted to eat some.

The beauty of fall

I love fall. I don't know if I have said it before or not, but it is my favorite season! This tree in our backyard is my favorite! It is still small, but this is the first year it has really turned this beautiful shade of red that I am loving. A lot of trees have lost their leaves, but my little maple is holding on to those garnet red leaves like nobody's business! Yesterday I left in the morning for a few hours. When I was leaving, I stopped at the stop sign across from our walking trail along the creek and saw this huge tree just dropping leaves like crazy. I have never seen a tree just drop leaves like that before without the help of the wind. It was wonderful and amazing. I am so glad that I got to see it. When I came back, I looked over at it to see how it was doing and it was completely naked! When I left, it had most of its leaves still attached, when I came home, they were all gone! Amazing! On another note; I'm tired.

Pumpkin Night at Peter Sarpy

We went to the Pumpkin Night at school last night and the kids got to paint pumpkins. They had a great time. I wasn't around when they painted the pumpkins, I was volunteering, but I left them in the capable hands of Chuck and he not only helped them paint their pumpkins, he did a little face making on their hands, which they were oh so happy to show off to me! The pumpkins looked great, Lily made a scary mama pumpkin (not sure where that one came from) and Skyler painted his with a scary face. They had a blast. Up next, pumpkin carving tomorrow night!

Rachel's Baby Shower

Saturday we had a baby shower for my sister. She came up from Wichita and was blessed with many friends and showered with gifts. I made the diaper cake, my friend Melissa made the adorable bear cake! There I am with the happy mom to be. We love you Rachel! Hope you had fun!

Busy!

So the last month or so I have been busy and will continue to be busy! Here is what my schedule looks like:

Monday: Nothing is usually scheduled, I often substitute teach on Mondays.
Tuesday: AM Bible Study

Ok, so now that you know all of that, check out what I need to get done:

  3. I need to read my book for bookclub.
  4. I need to do my Bible study homework
  5. I need to do my Bible study homework for High School Ministry.
  6. I need to do my CSP homework.
  7. I need to do my Marriage Ministry homework.
  8. I need to make 2 snowflake wreaths, one nativity wreath and one St. Patrick's wreath for a paying customer.
  9. I need to make some Christmas papercuttings that I will give as gifts to many a good friend.
  10. I need to keep my house clean and love on my kids.

Veggie Tales Live

Sunday we went to see Veggie Tales Live! It was very cute and Skyler loved it! Lily liked it until intermission and then basically was done. The story was cute and it was very much geared for the young audience.

Touch a Truck Saturday

We went to the Child Saving Institute's 2nd Annual Touch a Truck Friend Raiser today. We had a lot of fun and got to go into many vehicles that we normally wouldn't get to. We got to go into a life flight helicopter, can we even got to see it take off! We got to go into a cool monster truck that was all decked out with TV's everywhere! We got to go in a limo, the scoop of two bulldozers and the lift basket on a crane. They had free bounce houses and so many other things that I can't even name them all! We had a lot of fun and the best thing of all, it was free, and it didn't take all day!
